Dave’s Next Race

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust,
My feet will be fast and my compass I’ll trust.
My bike will fly and no time will I waste.
I’m out up ahead, it’s my trail dust you taste…

I couldn’t get word to you, there just wasn’t time
I got recruited for a big race that’s one of a kind
I know you’re concerned, but have no fear
My pack was ready to go with my mandatory gear

I had to move fast to not miss the start.
This race I’m going solo, without MOAT or HART.
But don’t worry about me because you need to train.
We adventure racers compete in sun, cold and rain.

When you’re ready for this race I’ll be waiting here.
Our “Mother Of All Teams” will have the best gear.
For now I’ll be waiting, enjoying the view
But know that often I am checking on you.

And if you’re feeling just a little bit low
Remember transition areas cause teams to be slow.
As the race clock ticks on, and life does too.
Don’t forget it’s essential to have a good crew.

So forgive me now for leaving this place,
But it’s hammer time, and I’m setting the pace.
I’ll see you again when you’re trained up and ready.
So HTFU and keep the pace steady.

In memory of Dave Boyd, orange WWDBD (What Would Dave Boyd Do?) bracelets can be obtained from a member of Team Moat or friends/family of Dr. Boyd. There is no fee, if you would like to make a donation to either MOAT or the Kids Cup of the TMBRA series that would be accepted. We are in the process of ordering more bracelets as well if we run out. Thank you for your support.

Dr Dave Boyd

Dave Boyd. A great athlete, physician, team mate and wonderful friend. The void that has been left by his absence will never be filled. Our only comfort is knowing that he will be racing along side us in spirit. We love him and miss him very much. Team MOAT has much love and appreciation for Dave's friends and especially his family. They have shown their love for Dave in all their encouragement for MOAT to continue the challenge Dave always set before them. To live life without regrets and full of adventure seizing the moment. 'After all if it were easy, anyone could do it'. The team's desire is to continue the team Dave started. Hopefully MOAT will continue to race not only in Texas, but in far off exotic places... but it will never be the same.
